Matthew Kelly teaches history at Northumbria University and is co-editor of the journal Past & Present. His books in British environmental history include Dartmoor: A British Landscape in Modern Times (2016) and The Women Who Saved the English Countryside (2022). He is currently thinking about how the British landscape is known through ornithological fieldwork, the history of the CPRE, and environmental politics under Mrs Thatcher.
