Phil Craig has his very own theory about how our grandparents and great grandparents made it through war, rationing and the Blitz – by being very naughty! Whether it was the gallows humour of the tank crews, the licentious limericks of the wicked sailor boys or gangs of wayward WAAFs out on the pull in blacked out Soho bars – there was a lot of humour of a distinctly blue variety.  With a mix of proper social history and some downright dirty fun, Phil will explore this secretive but salacious side of life in wartime Britain. Along the way Phil will read some of the fruitier – but also intensely moving – passages of his own work and he will lead an impromptu Chalke Valley bar choir (i.e. you!) in some cheeky community singing. So as the sun sets over Chalke Valley’s 2WW day, come meet Phil at the bar and be prepared to laugh, sing and enjoy some rather adult fun!
