We are all familiar with the Christmas truce of 1914, but an even more remarkable story unfolded in the skies above Germany during the festive season in 1943. It’s a story of loss, avenging anger, vulnerability, compassion and ultimately friendship, set against the icy blast of a daylight bombing raid gone badly wrong, and the American flyers who witness a Christmas miracle unfolding in the unlikeliest of circumstances.
