General John R. Allen, USMC (Ret.), is a retired four-star general and former commander of NATO and U.S. forces in Afghanistan. He served as Special Presidential Envoy to the Global Coalition to Counter ISIL. He is the former President of the Brookings Institution, a Senior Fellow at Johns Hopkins University’s Applied Physics Laboratory, and a Senior Advisor to Microsoft. He is also co-author of Turning Point: Policymaking in the Era of Artificial Intelligence and a global voice on security, technology, and international affairs.
