Lance Geiger is The History Guy on YouTube. Insisting that history does not need to be boring, and using the catchphrase “history deserves to be remembered,” he has produced more than a thousand 10 – 15 minute videos on subjects from the history of technology to fruit. In seven years his videos have been watched more than 350 million times for a watch time of more than 38 million hours, including nearly 18 million views of videos about the history of food and drink. He has appeared on television on The History Channel and the Discovery Channel, has been a featured speaker at The Tank Museum in Bovington, UK, the Michigan Air Museum, the commissioning of the United States Coast Guard Cutter Maurice D Jester, and the NASA summer seminar series. Prior to his career as an unlikely social media star he was a salesman, corporate trainer, national park ranger, college lecturer and award winning speech and debate coach. He has a bachelor’s degree in history and political science from the University of Colorado, and a master’s degree in speech communication from the University of Wyoming. He is a member of the honorable association of Kentucky Colonels. When not making videos in his basement he enjoys collecting vintage military hats.
